During the great war, shunzen kept a journal to write his poems and daily entries throughout the war. Mainly it's just for recording to look back to when the great war is over, even if he had a chance to die after it ends. We were alreading losing. The troops have lost great amount of armor, But knowing how the situation only gets worse, he decides to end everything by ending his life. For the sake of Yosano and himself. Suicide was a selfish thing to do for himself, but mori was a fucking bitch/ he groomed and manipulated children and abused them to fucking atrocious levels. Suicide was the only choice. He opened the leather journal, somewhere he could store safely along with his poem collection. Oh if only he could create bigger things to make a small cabinet, but his paper is limited. He writes his final entry of the war, aka suicide note.
To my friends in Tokyo. I hope you survive the rest of adult life. Military soldier life has been so tough for me that I can’t even go out for a day leave, sad how we cant even have our first drink together when Katuo turned 20. Unfortunately, It is a matter of life or death. But when the shitstorm is over, I can’t wait to see y’all again.
To my dear partner.
I’m sorry I couldn’t write a letter every month. I promised to treat you to a nice cafe when I get back home, but based on how the war has been progressing, I’m not very sure.
My love, I’m so blessed to have you. I missed all the time when we could meet up every week during our gap year. I missed our first kiss in tokyo …. I missed listening to your voice during music class. I missed listening to your dreams of being an idol when I was forced to give up on mine. The fact that i'm still writing poems is because of you.
Even without weapons and armor, youre still the strongest
To Michizo. My little brother. You are still very young. I don’t know if you'll ever find this letter or not, or if you’d understand words from a 22 year-old onii-chan. Everybody has flaws. Everyone makes mistakes. I rarely get to see you, but I know Mom and Dad have been treating you awfully for no reason. You’re only five. You haven’t even entered elementary school. Michizo shouldn’t be compared to a grown-up like Shun-chan. Five-year-olds should play and have fun.
Michizo, I wish I could take you to your elementary school entrance ceremony. Shun-chan will catch a bike and rush you to school if you’re late. Shun-chan will play with you on the playground if you're lonely. Shun-chan will take you to the bathroom if you’re scared. Shun-chan will make snacks if Mom and Dad don't come home from work. Shun-chan will make metal toys and buy you crayons and color pencils if you’re sad. Shun-chan will read stories and poems if Michizo can’t sleep.
It’s okay. Shun-chan is safe. But Michizo will no longer see Shun-chan.
Michizo. Make good friends in school. Study hard… if it makes you happy. Do what makes Michizo smile, like drawing. Keep drawing for Onii-chan even if Mom tries to throw your papers away. You don’t have to be anything like Shun-chan, even if Mom and Dad forces you to.
Because a happy Michizo is The Perfect Tachihara.
When you get older, I hope you can find a place where you belong. Even if it’s outside Tokyo. Japan is more than Tokyo, Michizo can go anywhere. Maybe to Yokohama like Shun-chan. If you don’t like Yokohama, then maybe Osaka. Kansai. Nagoya… wherever it is, Shun-chan knows someone will find you, love you and accept you for who you are. Even if Michizo will have to wait many years., maybe after Middle school or High school.
Michizo, if Mom and Dad won’t ever love you, always remember that I do.
15 years later
Tachihara finally closed the old jorurnal.
Tachihara read it. So did yosano.
Yosano gives old jornal entry from Tachihara. Also from ranpo, or mori.
Tears were running down michizo’s face.
Shunzen. He was already amazing at everything. But he also had an amazing heart. He truly loved michizo for what he is. Not because he was his little brother, but because he never sided with his parents.
“Impossible. This is a 15 year old journal. How did it survive?”
“Nii-san. Shunzen. Shun-chan. Thank you for believing in me. I was just a child, but you knew my fate. You wanted me to live in joy and peace”
